It can be used on a variety of substrates, including gelcoat, soft rubber, hard chrome, soft and hard composites, fiberglass, all metals and hard-filled rubber.
Silicon Carbide Mineral and Polyester Backing
3M engineer Film Roll 472L by adhering micron-graded silicon carbide mineral to polyester film using a resin bond. Silicon carbide mineral is very hard and fractures easily, resulting in freshly exposed sharp edges that cut extra fast and produce a smooth, professional-looking finish. While it wears faster than aluminum oxide, it produces a brighter finish. Roll 472L is available in a variety of grades, so operators can tailor the grade to their part.
The high-strength polyester backing has uniform caliper thickness throughout its length, which is helpful when close tolerances are important.
