3M empowers its customers by designing the solutions that bring optimal performance to their everyday applications. 3M designed 3M™ Polyurethane Adhesive Sealant Accelerator AC63 for large applications where adhesive strength and cure time are factors. When this adhesive accelerator is combined with an adhesive in a two-part adhesive system, it is capable of reaching full strength in a fraction of the time it takes conventional, single-part polyurethane adhesives. Consistent, guaranteed cure rates can be achieved in less than an hour, while a tack-free state can be achieved within 15 (+/-5) minutes.
A Different Kind of Cure
With a curing process unlike that of the single-part polyurethane adhesives on the market, the two-part accelerated polyurethane mixture of 3M™ Polyurethane Adhesive Sealant Accelerator AC63 and 3M™ Polyurethane Adhesive Sealant 550 is capable of curing due to a chemical process as well as a moisture-based process. This process actually cures the adhesive from the inside out, resulting in a more consistent cure that reaches full strength in a fraction of the time. No exothermic reaction takes place, no priming is required (for most applications), and the adhesive mixture does not stain.
