The Difference Is in the Construction of 3M™ Trizact™ PSA Film Disc 268XA
We chose a polyester film backing for our film disc, because it is water-resistant and can be run wet or dry. This disc is commonly used for damp sanding on a variety of substrates, including acrylic products, solid surface materials, and glass. Using a lubricant like water helps the disc run cool and wash away debris that could warp or discolor the substrate. Depending on the project or application, 3M™ Trizact™ PSA Film Disc 268XA typically appears during the middle of a sequence. Specifically. it brings the workpiece one step closer to the matte, semi-gloss or high gloss finish desired. While it may be run damp, the disc requires little water for effective results.
3M™ Trizact™ PSA Film Disc 268XA uses 3M microreplication technology to produce an engineered surface of patterned, microscopic, three-dimensional structures resembling pyramids. While conventionally coated abrasives often have erratically spaced mineral, Trizact™ abrasives focus on uniformity. As pyramids wear, fresh, sharp mineral produces a consistent cut and a predictable, fine finish. Altogether, this means fewer scraps and discards as a consequence of inconsistent results. Ongoing sharp cutting action minimizes the need to incorporate other abrasives in the sequence, thereby reducing processing steps and enhancing productivity.
PSA Attachment
The pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) on the back of our film disc facilitates easy disc to tool attachment. Attaching them to your disc pad is as simple as pressing on a sticker. The PSA disc can be peeled off of the disc pad just as easily. This creates a clean surface for your next disc. Disc rolls also offer the convenience of quickly tearing off a disc and eliminate the need to remove individual disc liners. PSA discs used in conjunction with a PSA or 3M™ Stikit™ backup pad. Also called a disc pad and sold separately, they attach to a random orbital sander.
